This year marks the twentieth anniversary of the historic meeting May 1, 1989 when Janet Mentgen, Susan Morales, and Dorothea Hover-Kramer met to give the name Healing Touch to Janet’s energy healing program taught in Denver area community colleges. With that began the amazing and ongoing journey to develop curriculum materials suitable for weekend continuing education trainings that health caregivers across the country, and later internationally, could attend. Under sponsorship of the American Holistic Nurses Association, the Healing Touch Program soon became a staple in the lives of nurses and allied health professionals who wanted to offer their human connection to patients in addition to the high technology of modern medicine.

International Certification for practitioners in Healing Touch began in 1994 and continues through Janet Mentgen’s original Healing Touch Program to validate the official practice of this deeply caring modality.
