Here’s an example of how she works to bring a dream into reality:
My friend R. called to explain her repeated dreams and daytime fantasies of a retreat place that she enjoys just for herself. She described it in vivid detail although she could only draw stick figures and flowers. The retreat takes her into her inner space although she has a very busy external life. It allows her a place of absolute rest. It has an A-frame cottage in the mountains. There is a small stream and a field with flowers nearby. The cottage is friendly and cozy but can only be accessed by her.
I made some sketches and sent them to R. She wanted to move the mountains behind the cabin so they would shelter and protect it. Almost as if embracing ther sacred space. The miracle of painting is that I could create whatever R. wanted and join her in bringing her dream place into reality.

Commissioned Art to Include a Favorite Setting and Favorite Persons

Below is a picture Dorothea created for a client that combines the client’s backyard pond with a recent photo of herself and her mother when they got onto a small boat together a few year ago.
The picture was generated by Dorothea on commission, approved with suggestions from the daughter, and then presented to the aging mother for her birthday. What a surprise when the mother opened it and realized she was part of an original work of art!
